Otherwise, the self-employed are expected to:

  • employ at least 2 persons full time within the business
  • be concerned full time with the running of the business – a ‘hands-on’ approach
  • be able to bear a proportionate share of liabilities as well as simply take profits
  • supply sufficient capital by way of start-up finance to enable the business properly to be grounded for success

If you are already a successful Entrepreneur or have a marketable business idea, then you may qualify as an INNOVATOR – a person who could perhaps raise capital to implement the idea.

Other Businesspersons

If you do not meet the requirements for the new INNOVATOR category of Business, but are already experienced and have funds of your own to invest in Britain, then LWG can show you how to obtain a visa as a Businessperson.

Otherwise, the essential criteria are:

  • you prove that you have a minimum of GB  30,000 which you intend to invest in a new UK business; OR you are buying into an exisiting business, which needs this level of investment; and
  • as a direct result of your investment, at least 2 new full time paid jobs will be created and filled by UK workers; and
  • you will be involved in the day-to-day running of the business; and
  • you will be able to bear your share of the liabilities of the business, as well as taking profits.

Once LWG has been provided with the basic outline of what is proposed, we will suggest a consultation.

BUT YOU DO NOT NEED TO EMPLOY STAFF IF YOU ARE:

  • Entitled to enter/stay in the UK under EU AGREEMENTS
  • AN OVERSEAS LAWYER – If you are qualified in your own jurisdiction, have sufficient personal or corporate funds to establish in the UK, and your qualifications are acceptable either to The Bar Council (Barristers) or to The Law Society (Solicitors), then you may obtain a visa which will enable you to practise as a lawyer in Britain, without the need to invest a minumum amount of money, nor will you be required to employ staff.
  • AN ESTABLISHED WRITER, SCULPTOR OR PAINTER – If you have earned your living over the past year at least in your field, are published, and can show that your work is appreciated for artistic or literary merit (other than writers who sell articles for magazines or newspapers), then, if have some funds to help you establish yourself in Britain, LWG can help you obtain a special visa, which will allow you to base yourself in Britain, and possibly settle here later on.
  • An INVESTOR who has already in the UK, or intends to transfer to Britain at least GB Million for potential investment into British business
